Jos Buttler scored a second straight century during the IPL 2022 encounter against the northern rivals Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 22. This was also his third ton of the ongoing season and fourth overall in his IPL career. More importantly, his innings also turned out to be a match-winning knock.
As Buttler successfully breached the three-figure mark on yet another occasion, there was a huge round of applause from the spectators as well as the Rajasthan dugout. However, it was West Indies middle-order sensation Shimron Hetmyer’s celebration that stood out from the rest as he gave a standing ovation to Buttler which turned out to be hilarious.

After Jos Buttler took two runs off a delivery from DC pacer, Khaleel Ahmed, by flicking it to deep mid-wicket, he celebrated his century having made his ground at the strikers’ end and that is when everyone started applauding him for achieving the prestigious feat. In a hilarious turn of events, Hetmyer got up from his seat and jumped in joy to celebrate but his right hand banged on the roof of the players’ dugout.

It just took 57 deliveries for the Englishman to reach his 100 and he continued the momentum afterward as well before his dismissal on the final ball of the penultimate over, scoring 116 runs from 65 deliveries at an outstanding strike rate of 178.46 which eventually propelled RR to a mammoth 222/2.
In reply, Delhi Capitals looked to make a match of it as openers Prithvi Shaw and David Warner added 43 runs for the first wicket. Skipper Rishabh Pant then made a statement with a 24-ball 44 and Lalit Yadav also scored a vital 37. Underfire Rovman Powell did score 36 runs from 15 deliveries towards the end but with no support from the other end, DC was restricted to 207/8 as the Royals bagged yet another win by 15 runs.
