The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) has announced earnings of almost Rs. 6.81 Crores following the conclusion of the second ODI between India and New Zealand at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground. Chetan Chauhan, the senior Vice President of the DDCA made the announcement and released a statement to PTI regarding the same.
In recent times, the Feroz Shah Kotla has been drawing a lot of flak for the kind of pitches that have been prepared for Test matches over the years. Moreover, the fact of the matter remained that the ICC had also suspended their hosting rights shortly after the conclusion of the encounter between Sri Lanka and India all those years ago in 2011.
The match was inadvertently suspended when a delivery from Sudeep Tyagi bounced rather higher than usual prompting the Sri Lankans to walk away from the scene of the play. Although another wicket was ready beside it, the match was eventually abandoned.
“DDCA earned Rs 6.81 crore from the ODI match. 30,000 people watched the game. Earnings from ticket sales are Rs 3.09 crore, one of the highest in the history of DDCA,” senior vice president Chetan Chauhan told PTI.

The profits reports, however, will now have to be sent over to the Justice Lodha committee for further review in a bid to include transparency within the organizational structure of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Earlier, the BCCI funds were frozen, something that did not go down too well with a few members of the board.
He added, “But we are sure to make profits after expenditure report is prepared.”
The Indians however, caved into the impressive fight of the New Zealanders in Delhi, losing by a rather narrow margin of six runs. However, in spite of this, the Indians clawed their way back into the grand scheme of things with some impressive performances in the form of a win in the follow-up encounter at Mohali.
