DDCA League set to be revived in October
The previous edition of the state-owned League was organized in 2014-15 but financial issues forced the competition to halt abruptly.
Indian domestic cricket is set to get revitalized if everything goes according to plan. The cricket affairs committee of the Delhi & Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) revealed earlier today, that their domestic league might be revived as the association has shown a keen interest in bringing back the stalled league. Formed under the supervision of Justice Vikramjit Sen (Retd.) and headed by former India all-rounder Madan Lal, the apparent plan of the association is to revive the DDCA League from October 1.
The previous edition of the state-owned League was organized in 2014-15 but financial issues forced the competition to halt abruptly. Now reports have confirmed that the first match will be to be played on October 2. Coaches all over the state have been delighted with this positive development. They feel that resuming the league would ensure better opportunities for budding talents of Delhi. Surjit Verma, a coach at RP Academy, also backed the decision and stated that the league would be a perfect place to judge local talent and provide them further grooming.

According to Hindustan Times, Tarak Sinha, coach of Sonnet club said, “ If the league starts, it will be great for Delhi cricket. There were no selection criteria in these two years and the kids were suffering due to that. Cricket will return to its competitive best and a healthy environment will take shape. It was very difficult to keep the kids motivated. We had to participate in a lot of tournaments outside which were not recognized by the DDCA. So it will be a welcome change.”
The decision to revive the acclaimed league comes as a much-need boost to the state cricketers. It would also open up avenues to harvest a better crop of players apart from providing them with experience and exposure on a professional stage.
