Dean Jones reckons his PSL team has been through hell after the suspension of the players

The 2017 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been in the news for all the wrong reasons as few players have been under investigation and suspended on charges of corruption by the PCB. Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif from the team Islamabad United were caught meeting a suspected person after their match against Peshawar Zalmi.

Both were suspended from playing the game and on Saturday, another player from the same team, Mohammad Irfan was being investigated for the same matter. Although he was later given clearance and allowed to play. But all these development has affected the team’s morale in a big way.

The head coach of the team Dean Jones has admitted that they have been through a lot following the suspensions of the two players and all has not been well in the camp. But he was positive about the team’s performance despite all the turbulence.

“Emotionally and physically, the team has been through hell, honestly. From our owners to Wasim and our senior players, it has been a bit of tough time, but now we will regroup and we will get together and move on”, the former Australian cricketer said.

Hopeful of a resurrection before the next game, Deano added, “We have four days before we play our next game in Sharjah. We will go out and regroup in this time ahead of next matches”.

He praised the experienced Misbah-ul-Haq and said, “Misbah is always calm, cool and collected. He doesn’t give a lot of emotions away. Not many people see the humorous side of him but we have seen a bit of that over the past 24 hours to loosen things up”.

Pakistan cricket has been marred heavily due to the incidents of spot-fixing in the last few years. Their three ace players Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir were banned from the game and even imprisoned for the crime in 2010. Amir was the only one who was allowed to return to the game and the other two promising careers were cut short by the incident.
