India won the opening Test against Australia at Adelaide Oval by 31 runs. Moreover, they also took a 1-0 lead in the four-match series. Virat Kohli became the first Asian and Indian captain to win Tests in England, Australia and South Africa all in the same calendar year. Prior to the match, India were deemed as the favourites and they didn’t do any harm to their reputation.

India are yet to win an abroad Test series against Australia and the victory would keep them in good stead ahead of the second encounter at Perth Stadium, which gets underway on December 14. After India won the toss and elected to bat first, Cheteshwar Pujara scored a magnificent century to help India score 250 following which Australia could only manage 235 runs.

Jones clearly not satisfied

With a lead of 15 runs, India set Australia a target of 323 runs. Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane racked up half-centuries to put the visiting in the driver’s seat. Australia tried their hearts out, especially their lower-order, which didn’t allow India to run away with the match. Meanwhile, Dean Jones, former Australia cricketer and current commentator, was dissatisfied after the match.

Ravi Ashwin picked up the final wicket of Josh Hazlewood, caught by KL Rahul in the slip cordon. However, the catch seemed a little indifferent, but the umpires didn’t go upstairs. Jones was upset with how the umpires dealt with the dismissal.

He replied to a fan’s message on Twitter and wrote, “I must say the umpires just needed to look at it… check if the delivery was not a no ball.. they do it for every other dismissal.. why not this one?,”

Here is Jones’ tweet

Nevertheless, the supporters weren’t pleased with Jones by any stretch of the imagination. They slammed Jones for the comments.
