Deepak Chahar is currently representing the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has been entrusted with the brand new ball and he hasn’t disappointed his team by any stretch of the imagination. The Rajasthan fast-bowler has churned out some immaculate channels and has been able to pick up early wickets.
Chahar made his first-class debut in 2010, however, prior to that the battle had already begun for the bowler. In 2008, he was deemed unfit to play international cricket by Greg Chappell, who was the director of the Rajasthan Cricket Association Academy, due to anonymous reasons. However, instead of getting bogged down, he refurbished his skills and forayed into domestic cricket a couple of years later.
The resilience from Deepak Chahar
Following Chappell’s departure, Tarak Sinha took charge and Chahar got his major break soon after. He had a stupendous opening season for Rajasthan after which he didn’t have an impressive run in the next three seasons owing to frequent injuries. Nevertheless, he worked upon his fitness and pace and recently has been a regular fixture in the CSK team thus far in their five games.
In the opening game against the Mumbai Indians (MI), he nipped out the prized scalp of Evin Lewis. Against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) he went wicket-less. However, instead of getting disappointed, he made a stupendous comeback against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) as he picked up Ajinkya Rahane and Sanju Samson in quick succession, which pushed the Royals’ back.
In the next game, he brought forth his A-game and ripped the heart out of the Sunrisers Hyderabad, who played without the services of Shikhar Dhawan. He dismissed three batsmen inside the powerplay and made CSK the firm favourites to win the game, which they eventually did, though by a slender margin.
