India and Chennai Super Kings’ star pacer Deepak Chahar tied the knot with Jaya Bhardwaj in Agra on Wednesday, June 1. The right-arm pacer had proposed to Jaya last year after Chennai Super Kings’ last league match against the Punjab Kings in IPL 2021. He had originally planned to do so during the playoff stage, but he followed MS Dhoni’s advice and proposed to her earlier.
Deepak Chahar’s cousin Rahul Chahar shared pictures and videos on his social media from the Haldi, Mehendi, and other pre-wedding ceremonies. And now, the wedding’s first glimpse has been shown by the cricketer himself. On Wednesday, Deepak posted a photo on his official Instagram account putting ‘Varmala’ (garland) around Jaya’s neck.
“When I met you the first time I felt that you are the one and I was right. We have enjoyed every moment of our life together and I promise you to keep you always happy like this. One of the best moments of my life. Everyone pls give your blessings to us,” Chahar captioned his post.

Deepak Chahar was ruled out of the IPL 2022 owing to his back injury
Meanwhile, Deepak did not play a single match in IPL 2022 owing to his back injury. He was CSK’s most expensive pick at the IPL auction this year and was also the most expensive Indian bowler. He, however, got ruled out of the entire season. The Indian Premier League (IPL) had issued a statement to confirm the news during the tournament.
Chahar was purchased by CSK for INR 14 crore at the IPL auction in February. He spent almost a month at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, rehabilitating from a quadriceps tear he sustained during India’s home T20I series against the West Indies. While the news first said he would be back for the second half of the event, he could not make it ultimately.
CSK did find a good pace option for the powerplay, in the form of Mukesh Choudhary, but the four-time champions had a miserable outing this year, and besides multiple injuries in the camp, the captaincy woes hurt them further. As a result, they ended up winning just four out of the 14 league games and finished at the second last place in the points table.
