Deepika Padukone reveals her favourite cricketer

If there is just one thing that we got to know from the Indian Premier League, it was that Bollywood and cricket could become a single family, with the likes of Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan actively involved and expressing their opinions cricket, be it in the IPL or be it any other match the Indian team plays.

Bollywood’s very own Deepika Padukone’s connection with the game of cricket goes a long way back, as for the best part of the last decade she was linked with the Indian cricketers Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni. The stunning actress has always been an ardent supporter of the Royal Challengers Bangalore where she was linked with Siddarth Mallya.

Deepika has been an ardent fan of the game too just like her co-actors who have shown interest in the game. The actress has previously been spotted expressing her delight with the bond that the game of cricket and Bollywood shared.

“Happy with Bollywood’s innovative idea of promoting films at cricket venues. I think cricket and cinema are like religions in our country. So, it’s nice to get the two together and hope this combination works.” said Deepika.

Virat Kohli over Yuvraj and Dhoni

The actress, however, has revealed that neither MS Dhoni nor Yuvraj Singh is her favourite cricketers with a surprise name emerging. Just before she named her current favourite cricketer she said earlier it was the legendary right-handed batsman Sachin Tendulkar.

“Sachin is iconic, but I think among the younger lot, Virat Kohli is extremely talented. I just hope he doesn’t lose focus, and if he continues playing the way he does, he has a great future,” she had said while talking about the current Indian skipper Virat Kohli.

While  Kohli is currently the best in the business, likewise Deepika, too is at this point in time the best actress in the country with most of her movies grossing over 100 crores. What surprised people was that Deepika had predicted Kohli’s fandom and stardom way ahead in time before others could grasp their breath in awe of the right-handed player.
