With the advent of Twenty20 as a part of modern-day cricket, unimaginable things have happened in the game. Double hundred in ODIs was always looked upon as something too big to be achieved but when Sachin Tendulkar broke the psychological barrier in 2010 five more have been scored and many have come closer. While 200 was a defendable total in ODIs at one point it isn’t in a 20 overs match today. Another page was added to the history when Delhi batsman Mohit Ahlawat scored a triple century in a T20 game.

The 21-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman playing a local T20 tournament called Friends Premier League at Lalita Park in Delhi while batting for Maavi XI scored three hundreds against Friend’s XI. He batted for just 72 balls in his innings and scored an individual score that hasn’t been scored by a team in the format. His knock included as many as 39 maximums and 14 hits through the boundary ropes.

At one point it looked like Mohit wouldn’t be able to get to his triple ton as he needed 50 runs with just two overs to play. Batting on 250 after 18 overs of play the swashbuckling batsman still managed to achieve the feat for the first time in the history. He scored 50 runs in just 12 balls with the last 6 yielding him 34 runs as he plundered five back to back sixes to conclude the innings and also register a triple.

His opening partner Gaurav scored 86 runs from 39 balls which in itself is a tremendous T20 knock but was completely overshadowed by Mohit’s unbelievable effort. The duo took the team to a humungous 416 runs total in their share of 20 overs. Details about the result of the match is unknown but it is pretty easy to guess that the opposition must have lost by a huge margin.
