Rajasthan Royals (RR) locked horns with Delhi Capitals (DC) in the reverse-clash of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Wednesday (October 14) at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. In their first outing against each other, Capitals had registered victory over Royals by 46 runs. On Wednesday, Delhi yet again became table-toppers after a clinical win against Rajasthan by 13 runs.

Winning the toss, Shreyas Iyer elected to bat first. However, the Capitals had a rocky start as their opening batsman Prithvi Shaw got out on the very first ball of the match followed by Ajinkya Rahane who looked out of touch and went back to the pavilion after a below-par score of 2 off 9 deliveries.

This is when Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer stepped up to take their team towards a decent total of 161 runs at the loss of 7 wickets in the 20-over game. Dhawan scored 57 off 33 while Iyer amassed 53 off 43 deliveries. As far as the bowling is concerned, Jofra Archer performed extremely well for his team as he bowled a spell of 3/19 in four overs.

The bowling unit of Delhi Capitals scripted victory for their team. After an explosive start by the Royals’ opening batsmen Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler, the bowlers especially Anrich Nortje and Tushar Deshpande along with Ravi Ashwin took important wickets to ensure that no partnership was formed at the batting end.

Stokes emerged as the highest run-getter for Royals with 41 runs off 35 balls. For Capitals, Tushar Deshpande and Anrich Nortje took two wickets each while Kagiso Rabada, Ashwin and Axar Patel had one each to their name.

DC tease RR after the victory

After defeating Rajasthan Royals and becoming table-toppers with six wins in eight games, the official twitter handle of Delhi Capitals took a dig at the former by sharing a hilarious meme. Capitals tweeted, ”RR Brand Manager to RR Admin: Next time, let’s just do a simple tweet like’All the best before every game.”

Though upset with their loss, the official twitter handle of Rajasthan Royals gave an appropriate reply to the Capitals. They tweeted, “So..Tell me more about Secretly being in love with me.?
