The Delhi Daredevils have decided to enhance their ticket prices for their home games against the specific teams. They have upped it the most for the games against the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Chennai Super Kings which are led by Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni respectively, the two biggest stars of Indian cricket.
The pricing deck of the franchise which is owned by the GMR and the JSW groups has come out today and it shows that while the price of the most expensive tickets available for the matches of most of the teams is Rs 15,000, it’s slightly higher for the matches of RCB and CSK. The fans will have to pay Rs 17,500 if they want to purchase the highest category of tickets to watch those two teams in action against DD.
Increasing the ticket rates for big games is not something new in sports, it happens in a lot of sports around the world and it’s obvious that Dhoni’s and Kohli’s stardom will attract many people to the stadium. So it’s fair enough for the franchise to try and cash in on the opportunity.
Dhoni and Kohli – Two of India’s most-watched cricketers
Dhoni and Kohli are the two most loved cricketers across all parts of India. While Dhoni led the Indian cricket team with distinction for 8 long years and guided the team to a World Cup title, Kohli is successfully taking his legacy forward now by achieving some great results for the team, not only at home but overseas as well.
And moreover, Kohli himself belongs to Delhi as well. It’s the place where he was born and emerged as a young cricketer learning all his cricketing skills and people love him as their own there even though he doesn’t represent the home franchise in IPL.
The prices of the tickets for the matches of the reigning champions Mumbai and the Kolkata Knight Riders are slightly higher too, however not as high as that of the matches of RCB and CSK. The highest category of tickets for the MI and the KKR matches are put on sale at Rs 16,000 by the DD franchise.
