Delhi Daredevils is having a lacklustre campaign thus far in the IPL, a reason which can be related to the injury worries of their foreign recruits. And now sources have revealed that Jason Roy, who helped Delhi post their only win in the tournament, is down with a left side strain and even had to go through a precautionary MRI. Roy scored an unbeaten 91 off 53 balls against Mumbai Indians.

Another marquee cricketer in the Delhi lineup, Proteas all-rounder Chris Morris is also recuperating from a back injury which kept him away from his team’s first home game against the Kings XI Punjab on Monday night.

Despite having five losses from six games, the Daredevils aren’t reading too much into the injuries to their key players. Instead, the team management is hopeful of seeing them back in action. Morris, for instance, hasn’t shown his class act with the bat so far in the season and has sort of struggled to make an impact with the ball, but his team hasn’t lost hope of seeing him hitting those sixes, which has been his trademark style in the last two seasons.

According to TOI a source privy to the developments reported, “Roy’s MRI scan is awaited and we are also hoping to see Morris recovering well before the next game against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday.”

Daredevils’ campaign so far

After losing the first couple of games the team showed great character to win their next match comprehensively. DD has failed to convert close situations in their favour, a factor that skipper Gautam Gambhir will need on his side if he fancies making it to the business end of the tournament.

The Daredevils next face 2-time IPL champions KKR, who are currently in the 4th spot in the table. The marquee clash, which is billed to be a high octane encounter is set for Friday at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium.
