'Desperate times, desperate measures' - Aakash Chopra wants Shakib Al Hasan to replace Eoin Morgan as KKR captain
Aakash Chopra also added that Shakib Al Hasan can help the KKR side by bowling a few overs as well.
Eoin Morgan has experienced a torrid run in the second leg of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with the willow in hand. The England cricketer has scored just 17 runs in the 4 innings that he has batted in the UAE leg of the IPL, and has not even crossed the 10-run mark in the second half of the tournament.
And, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra reckons that desperate times, indeed call for desperate measures to be taken in the KKR camp. Chopra suggested that the Kolkata side should replace Morgan with Shakib Al Hasan as the captain.
Adding that he has nothing against Morgan, the 43-year-old opined that the runs have dried up from the current KKR skipper’s willow. Chopra also added that Shakib can help the KKR side by bowling a few overs as well.
“Desperate times, desperate measures. Can KKR contemplate making Shakib the captain for the remaining games? Nothing against Morgan but if runs aren’t coming, they simply aren’t. Can happen to the best of players. Shakib would give a few overs alongside his batting. Thoughts?” tweeted Chopra.

Kolkata Knight Riders are currently placed at the 4th spot in the IPL points table
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) side is currently occupying the 4th spot in the IPL points table. The two-time IPL champions have won 5 out of their 12 matches in the 2021 edition of the tournament.
The Eoin Morgan-led outfit was beaten by the KL Rahul-led Punjab Kings (PBKS) side on 1st October 2021 in Dubai. Even though the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) posted a challenging total of 165 runs on the board, the Punjab side chased down the target with 5 wickets to spare.
The Kolkata Knight Riders still have two more matches remaining in the league stages of the IPL. While they will lock horns with the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) side in Dubai on 3rd October 2021, the Kolkata side will play its final league match on 7th October 2021 against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) side in Sharjah.
