The richest national cricketing body in the world, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) pays its players a hefty sum of money. And that becomes evident when they put up their list of payments made on the official website. It is often argued that Indian cricketers earn much more than other athletes, but that is because BCCI and money are nearly synonymous to one another.
Recently, the Indian cricket board’s updated the payments that were made to players and officials for the month of June 2017. While India opener Rohit Sharma was paid a sum of Rs. 1.12 crores, the former head coach of India Anil Kumble received an amount of Rs. 48 lakhs. Along with the details of the payments to the player, that to the support staff, IPL teams, commentators and others were also revealed.
Team India’s physio Patrick Farhart has pocketed an amount of Rs. 1.17 crores for his 14 months of services. On the other hand, IPL teams too received their share of funds for participating in the tenth edition. Among the top paid were Kolkata Knight Riders, who received Rs. 15 crores, and Royal Challengers Bangalore, who received Rs. 21 crores.
Payment for technology bringers
Along with that, the payments made to Cricket South Africa and Cricket New Zealand were also up on the website. The two boards received Rs. 4.03 crores and 1.35 crores respectively for playing bilateral series with India.
During the IPL, Bangladesh, England and Australia series, Hawkeye technology was used in the games, the innovators of which have been paid an amount of Rs. 61 lakh for India vs England series, and Rs. 2.9 crores for the other three aforementioned tournaments.
Among other prominent names, Ajinkya Rahane received Rs 1.10 crore while Ravichandran Ashwin was paid Rs 1.01 crore. Manish Pandey received Rs 2970112 while Suresh Raina received Rs 3,282,757.
