Dhawal Kulkarni dreams of Mumbai Indians winning IPL 2020 defeating KXIP in the final
Dhawal was set to play for MI in the IPL 2020.
The fate of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) still hangs in balance. The BCCI is exploring all the possible options to stage the tournament this year and reportedly is looking at organising outside India too. The pandemic has led to the cricketers not taking the field for a long time now and expectedly, are missing the marquee T20 tournament as well.
Dhawal Kulkarni is no different to it. He was picked by the Mumbai Indians (MI) and was set to make an impact playing for the franchise this year only for COVID-19 to disrupt his plans. The Mumbai franchise would’ve also entered the cash-rich league as the defending champions having won the tournament for the record fourth time last year.
They had defeated the three-time champions Chennai Super Kings in a thrilling final by one run. The Rohit Sharma-led side would’ve definitely backed themselves to defend the title this time around. Interestingly, the MI side did defend the title in Dhawal Kulkarni’s dreams by winning the IPL for the fifth time.
The tournament wasn’t happening in India, Dhawal recalls his dream
In an Instagram live chat with CricTracker, the Mumbai cricketer stated he dreamt of Mumbai Indians winning the IPL 2020 season once again. According to his dream, the T20 tournament was happening outside India and the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) had made it to the final.
“The last dream I got was I was playing an IPL final this year. It was against KXIP and the tournament wasn’t happening in India, it was happening somewhere in South Africa or Australia. We (Mumbai Indians) won the final,” Dhawal Kulkarni said.
For the unversed, the 31-year-old was picked by Mumbai Indians in a trading window from the Rajasthan Royals. Moreover, he had played for the MI from 2008 to 2013 and has featured in 33 matches for them picking 36 wickets as well. Overall, Dhawal has played 90 matches in the IPL picking 86 wickets at an impressive strike-rate of 20.29 and would’ve hoped to play a few matches this year as well.
