After two months of cricketing action, it was the Chennai Super Kings who emerged as champions. The franchise displayed great character all around with some fantastic cricket being played. While the batting was stupendous, the bowling too didn’t manage to disappoint.
Not many people would’ve heard of Deepak Chahar before this season. The right arm pacer managed to take ten wickets in this year’s IPL. He largely credits MS Dhoni for all the success he achieved for CSK. Describing how Dhoni was influential in getting him into the fold, he praised him for his magnificent captaincy.
MS Dhoni had full confidence in me to deliver
Deepak Chahar initially bowled a few overs. It took time before the captain trusted him to bowl his quota. Chahar asserted that the captain instilled the faith in him. Further shedding light on how Dhoni was a major reason behind his inclusion, he spoke about how he had worked hard on his game.
“There was responsibility and my captain had faith in me. Now, everyone in the team tells me that Dhoni had suggested my name to the team management at the first go. He had full confidence in me. I have also been working on my game for the last few years and I got a platform to prove my talent.” Chahar was quoted as saying by Sportstar.

Dhoni’s captaincy has been spot on this year. His moves of promoting Ambati Rayudu, backing Harbhajan and Jadeja in the bowling lineup and further persisting with Faf Du Plessis turned out to be a masterstroke. Chahal remarked that MSD knew exactly how to bring the best out of any player.
“He grooms the players. He has a huge knowledge of how to use a particular player. That’s the reason he is such a great captain. He knows how to get the best out of a player, and that helped me. I doubt whether it would have been this easy had there been some other captain.”
