The Indian Premier League (IPL) Final was nothing but a fairytale for the MS Dhoni and his Chennai Super Kings who on back of a breathtaking century from former Australia all-rounder Shane Watson clinched their third IPL trophy on Sunday, thrashing the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Chasing a total, the CSK opener took 10 balls to get off the mark but after getting his eyes in, the right-hander demolished the SRH bowlers during his unbeaten match-winning knock.
Notably, the CSK made their return to the tournament after serving a 2-year ban. Dhoni was ripped off from captaincy during the last year’s tournament playing for Rising Pune Supergiants. However, he returned with the bang as skipper, leading the side to victory in the opening game against Mumbai.
Things got worse for the CSK when because of political tension in the city of Chennai, the home games of the CSK were shifted to Pune. However, the side got a massive support in Pune when a train called WhistlePodu Express took off from Chennai, carrying the CSK supporters to Pune. Dhoni-led side received massive support during their away games as well.
Shocking innings from Watson: Dhoni
During the finals at the iconic Wankhede, things weren’t too different as it looked as if the whole stadium was painted in yellow. CSK skipper Dhoni posted a picture of himself with his wife Sakshi and daughter Zinva along with the IPL trophy. Dhoni in the Instagram post thanked the crowd for their support. He thanked the Wankhede Stadium crowd in Mumbai who had turned in large numbers wearing the yellow jerseys. He lauded Shane Watson for the shocking innings which won them the title.
Ziva doesn’t care about the trophy: Dhoni
Adding further, Dhoni added that his daughter Ziva was not too excited about the IPL trophy, instead, she was excited to run on the lawn. His wife Sakshi and daughter Ziva have seen supporting the CSK skipper in almost every game of the tournament. The final was no different as the mother-daughter duo cheered for the CSK and Dhoni as they triumphed the SRH.
