Harsha Bhogle is one expert of the game who has been loved and respected throughout the world. Though he hasn’t played professional cricket, the man from Hyderabad has in-depth knowledge about the game. Not only this, when he speaks every cricket fan is bound to listen to him. Over the years, he has been involved in the game in a way that he has been close to many cricketers.
As the IPL 2020 gets delayed every day, there are a lot of speculations whether MS Dhoni will be back for India or not. The former Indian captain hasn’t played an international game since the World cup semi-final last year. With all that has been going on, Harsha Bhogle gave his opinion of Dhoni’s comeback. He feels that Dhoni’s ambitions to play for India again might be over.
While addressing the issue in a podcast released by Cricbuzz, Bhogle said, “My gut feeling is that his (Dhoni’s) India ambitions might be over. I don’t think Dhoni would have been looking to September-October for the T20 World Cup. Maybe if he just had a great IPL but my gut feeling is that was beyond him.”
Bhogle revealed that during last year’s IPL he saw Dhoni being really passionate while speaking in the post-match conferences. “I still do believe so that Dhoni desperately turnout for CSK. The reason I think so. Last year towards the end of the IPL, towards the end of the league stage I got an opportunity of doing a couple of post-match presentations and there was Dhoni and he wasn’t holding back at the presentations which were normally three-four minutes but this one seven to nine minutes almost and when Dhoni is in that talkative mode we don’t stop him,” he said.
MS Dhoni still wants to give back to CSK, feels Harsha Bhogle
Bhogle said that over the years, he has seen Dhoni as a very direct man but he could see that MS was becoming a little softer because of the love from the Chennai fans. “I asked him what it feels to be called Thalaiva by the CSK fans and what it meant to someone who was always associated to Ranchi to get this love from Chennai and for the first time I saw a little bit of softness behind this facade that tells you nothing,” he further added.
Harsha went on to say that Dhoni revealed to him how much gratitude he feels towards the fans of Chennai Super Kings. He felt MSD will be back for playing the IPL once again just for the love of the CSK fans. “He talked about the great honour of being given this title, he said that when people give you that title how much they love and he said there is a lot of gratitude, I feel so great when I am among these fans. I thought there was this slightly softer side of Dhoni and that’s why Dhoni still wants to give back to CSK,” he signed off.
