Australian opener David Warner was in the news even before the toss was done for his team’s mega-clash with England at Lord’s on Tuesday. The speculation was whether the English crowd would boo the batsman as it has been doing throughout or whether he would avenge all the humiliation by belting another memorable knock. However, Warner made the headlines as expected but not for any of the speculations but something else. He was rather suspected of having engaged in a heated argument with a teammate at Lord’s iconic balcony while Australia batted.

Warner, who scored yet another fifty in the match to go to the top of the scorers’ list in the tournament with 500 runs, was seen having an animated discussion with some of his teammates. Once, assistant coach Ricky Ponting was telling him something at which Warner got really animated. Steve Smith was also present there and had a full view of the proceedings. He had a good laugh about it.

Warner has two hundreds and three fifties in WC 2019

Warner has already slammed two hundreds in this World Cup, playing in which looked uncertain not too long ago. Tuesday’s fifty was also his third in the competition. Australian skipper Aaron Finch finished at 496 runs after hitting his second hundred of the tournament. The defending champions made 285 for 7 in 50 overs and had put England under all sorts of pressure by picking their four wickets for just 53.

One of the major allegations against Warner in this World Cup is that he is playing slower than what he used to do before getting banned for a year because of the Sandpapergate scandal. However, as long as he is scoring runs and Australia are winning, not many should complain much.

Coming back to the big game at Lord’s, Finch said he was not too disappointed for having got to bat first. He said he was not too sure about the wicket and would have probably bowled first as well. Australia have 10 points from six games at the moment and another win will certainly book their place in the semi-finals.
