'Did the sheer thought of her having Covid make them lose?' - Meg Lanning's sister slanders criticisms over India’s loss at CWG Finals
Australia's Tahlia McGrath played the final match despite testing positive for COVID.
The debate continues. A section of cricket fraternity is still calling out the Aussies for fielding Covid-19 infected Tahlia McGrath in the finals of the Commonwealth Games 2022 against India. At the same time, many are being salty about the matter. Anna Lanning, a cricketer herself and the sister of Australian captain Meg Lanning, is the latest one to take a dig at Indian fans.
She believes that it’s India who had the advantage as Tahlia’s performance on the day of the finals wasn’t something she can be proud of. The all-rounder scored just two runs with her bat while giving away 24 runs in two overs while bowling. Venting out all her anger, she explained India’s advantage through a tweet.
“She made 2 runs and got smacked for 24 off 2 overs, so if anything she was almost advantageous to India? Or did the sheer thought of her having Covid make them lose 8-34????????,” Anna Lanning tweeted in response to a fan.
Taking another dig, Anna explained how India weren’t very friendly about this decision. She tweeted a series of images to explain her claim. Nevertheless, people are still talking about it while Anna restricted her comment section.
Australia win Gold medal after defeating India in the finals of the Commonwealth Games
Australia defeated India in the finals by just nine runs to win the gold medal in the Commonwealth Games 2022. Batting first, the world champions scored 161 runs with Beth Mooney doing the bulk of scoring. India lost two early wickets but captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues gave fans some hope.
Despite their best effort, the duo failed to capitalize in the crunch situation and were dismissed. The lower-middle wasn’t properly tested throughout the tournament. Hence, they couldn’t bear the pressure as India lose quick wickets. With that, the Indian team suffered another defeat in the finals. Former India Captain Mohammad Azharuddin later called out Indian cricketers for their ‘rubbish batting’.
