The 22 yards that was used for the third Test match between India and England has now come under immense scrutiny. The match was over within the first two days, and the spinners reigned supreme. Several former cricketers, including the likes of David Lloyd and Michael Vaughan, have bashed the pitch and the way it behaved. And now, Yuvraj Singh has joined in as well and has let his thoughts known to the world about the pitch.
Yuvraj was of the view that if the likes of Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh had bowled on this type of pitch, they would have ended up with 1000 and 800 wickets respectively. He also indicated in his tweet that such a pitch did nothing for the betterment of Test match cricket. He ended his tweet by congratulating Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ishant Sharma. And for his tweet, Yuvraj was mercilessly bashed up by fans on Twitter.
You can see Yuvraj’s tweet below
finished in 2 days Not sure if that’s good for test cricket !If @anilkumble1074 and @harbhajan_singh bowled on these kind of wickets they would be sitting on a thousand and 800 ?🤔However congratulations to 🇮🇳 @akshar2026 what a spell! congratulations @ashwinravi99 @ImIshant 💯

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli defend Ahmedabad pitch
Two of India’s batting stalwarts, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have both defended the pitch that was used at Ahmedabad. While Rohit stated that it was still a nice wicket to bat on and it had no demons in it, Kohli stated that the batsmen needed to trust their defense a little more on this type of surface.
As far as the match is concerned, the Indian side pummeled the England outfit by 10 wickets in what was a one-sided affair. Even though the batsmen from both sides struggled to get going, the Indian spinners proved to be way more effective than the England spinners.
While Axar Patel scalped a whopping 11 wickets in the match, spin legend Ravichandran Ashwin took 7 wickets. Such was the nature of the pitch that even Joe Root scalped a 5-wicket haul in the first innings.
But in the end, the Indian side took a 2-1 lead in the series and have kept their hopes of qualifying for the World Test Championship (WTC) final alive. On the other hand, a loss in the third Test means that England are now out of the WTC race. The series is not over yet. There is still one more Test to be played, and a lot of drama can be expected in the 4th rubber as well.
Meanwhile, let us check out how the fans reacted to Yuvraj’s tweet

After getting retired, didn't expect such ridiculous tweet / comments from Yuvraj ji. India performed outstandingly in 2nd test & 3rd test. Ashwin is an outstanding bowler who is far much better than Bhajji Paaji & Kumble Sir because of his batting ability. @sachin_rt @imVkohli

There's no taking away credit from how Ashwin played but when you are praising someone for their performance in the past 2 matches atleast give credit to akshar and rohit too… Anyways you seem to be a fanboy
He isn't greater then Kumble sir or Bhajji get your facts right dude— Vicky Roy (@vickyroyMG) February 25, 2021
Paaji, We don’t have the same opinion when games end shorter in overseas conditions and we are left searching for the ball due to swing. It’s TEST cricket for a reason. Why not encourage batsman to improve their skills as already shorter formats are nightmare for bowlers.

Don't blame you, I just blame your genes.
Please appreciate other players with full dignity unlike your dad. And if you can't then better stay silent.
You were great and we love you. But don't belittle someone else's achievements.— Dr. Devashish Palkar (@DevPalkar) February 26, 2021
If @MdShami11 and @ImIshant were born in England they would be sitting on a 400 and 600 ?🤔
How ever congratulations to @jimmy9 @StuartBroad8 💯— Mukhi_vk18 (@Ragnar_vk18) February 25, 2021
lol he lost the us the 2014 t20 world cup and also ashwin has more than 10x test matches for india than yuvraj he has 7 man of the series more than sachin
— Harshil Bhardwaj (@HarshilB5) February 25, 2021
Yeah and by this logic If @imVkohli had batted on those pitches he’d have 200 centuries by now ! 😑 #INDvsENG
— Abhimanyu (@Famous_notso) February 26, 2021
According to your logic, if Kohli and Smith batted on the pitches where Bhajji and Kumble bowled, he would have had more test hundreds than Sachin?
— Viru Sharma (@183Mirpur) February 25, 2021
The problem is that India over a period got adjusted themselves to overseas pitches/conditions, but other teams still put blame on pitches in India. Check out the dismissals dude, they were straight balls. #DemonsInMindNotPitch #INDvsENG
