Virat Kohli might not have made his bat talk much during Royal Challengers Bangalore’s clash against Delhi Capitals on Saturday (April 17). However, he contributed significantly in the field by taking a stellar catch. He timed his jump to perfection and took a brilliant one-handed catch to dismiss DC skipper Rishabh Pant, who was on a roll and was threatening to take the game away from RCB.

It was the third ball of the 17th over and the game seemed poised at that time. Pant’s eyes lit up as Mohammed Siraj delivered a juicy full toss. However, the connection wasn’t proper and Kohli took a sensational catch inside the circle. It was certainly a turning point of the game as Pant walked back for a 17-ball 34. It was smooth sailing for RCB afterwards as they clinched the contest by 16 runs.

Gym training the reason behind Virat Kohli’s special efforts on the field

Meanwhile, soon after Kohli completed the brilliant catch, one of his recent posts went viral. On April 11, the 33-year-old had shared a video of himself sweating it out in a gym session. He had also mentioned the words of RCB’s strength and conditioning coach Shankar Basu, which motivated him a lot.

“The difference between a good attempt and a good catch is the work you do in the gym – shankar basu. Thanks for imbibing the “get better by 1 percent” attitude in me bassa sirrrr @basu2013 @Primal_Patterns,” read the caption of the post. Kohli’s hard work eventually paid off as he showcased remarkable agility to take the crucial catch.

Netizens were quick to highlight the same as the old post resurfaced. Meanwhile, RCB eventually won the contest by 16 runs and advanced to the third place in the IPL 2022 team standings with four wins in six games. Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik was the chief architect of RCB’s win as he scored an unbeaten 66 off 34 balls, helping RCB post a formidable 189/5 while batting first.
