Sri Lanka off-spinner Dilruwan Perera broke the record of the legend Muttiah Muralitharan in the ongoing third and final Test against India. He became the fastest bowler to reach the milestone of 100 wickets in red-ball cricket in only 25th Test match of his career. Murali had achieved the feat in 27 matches and Perera would love to emulate the stalwart what he did in his overall career. However, for now, he would like to concentrate on bowling well in Delhi and script a memorable outing for his team.

Perera experienced a moment of glory in the 10th over of the day when Shikhar Dhawan swept a harmless off-break which turned a little bit only to top edge it to the deep backward square leg fielder Suranga Lakmal. His teammates were aware of his milestone and congratulated the bowler. They would love him to celebrate it and pick up more wickets on the day to restrict India to a below-par total.

Dilruwan Perera made his debut in whites in 2014 against Pakistan at Sharjah and since then has been a vital player to the fortunes of his team. He already has 5 five wicket hauls and a solitary 10 wicket haul in the match. He is also a handy batsman with six half-centuries under his belt. He played a crucial role in his team’s historic series win against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates.

Sri Lanka impressive in the first session

Sri Lanka, against the odds, managed to pick up a couple of important wickets in the first session in the ongoing third and final Test match at Ferozshah Kotla Stadium in Delhi. India, after winning the toss, started comfortably before Dhawan threw his wicket away and give Perera his 100th wicket in the format. They trapped Cheteshwar Pujara smartly as he leg-glanced a ball straight into the hands of leg-slip off Lahiru Gamage.

However, they also leaked 4.30 runs per over as the hosts managed to score 116 runs in 27 overs until lunch. Murali Vijay continued his good run from the second Test and notched up a half-century. Virat Kohli is looking comfortable along with him on 17 only eight runs shy of 5000 Test runs which he will surely reach in the second session.
