India wrapped up their series against the Windies on a happy note by winning the final T20I at M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday by 6 wickets to clinch the series 3-0. It was a perfect finishing touch as India won the Test series 2-0 and the ODI series 3-1 prior to the T20Is. Ace batsman Rohit Sharma also added another feather to his captaincy crown by leading India to yet another victory.
One other person was elated on the day and it was Dinesh Karthik. Though the wicket-keeper-batsman did not have much of a role in the final T20I, he was happy over the fact that he was back to his home city Chennai and be a part of a series-winning team. In a tweet, the 33-year-old said it was not only a happy experience returning to the home city but winning the series made the moment even more special.
India won the first match in Kolkata by 5 wickets and the second game in Lucknow by 71 runs. The third game got quite close as India lost Man of the Match, opener Shikhar Dhawan (92), in the penultimate ball with one required off the last delivery. But Manish Pandey pulled it through by taking the winning run off it. Karthik was the other batsman on the ground then.
Absolutely love coming back to chennai, no matter what game it is. Accomplishing a series win with this great bunch of lads makes it even more special. #homecomingdoneright pic.twitter.com/eolJmd1i2w

Karthik hasn’t played much international cricket at home ground
Karthik, who scored 31 runs in the T20I series, hasn’t played much of international cricket at his home ground though. His made only one appearance at the Chennai venue prior to Sunday’s game and it was against the same Caribbeans in an ODI in January 2007 when he scored eight runs off 17 balls. He has played 11 T20 games here (including the Sunday game) in which he has scored 243 runs at a strike-rate of 131-plus and average of 30.37. He has just one 50 in T20s here and it came against Karnataka in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in October 2011.
