Dinesh Karthik points out the difference between MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's captaincy styles
Karthik will now play against Australia under Virat Kohli.
Dinesh Karthik’s international career turned around completely last year after he famously finished the game against Bangladesh. His heroics helped India clinch the Nidahas Trophy from an improbable position and Karthik made a comeback to the Indian side across all the formats. Though his Test career seems to be over now, the wicketkeeper-batsman looks certain to make it to the upcoming World Cup later this year.
Karthik has seen a lot of ups and downs during his long international career and has played under different captains. MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma led the Indian side in the last decade and he has been part of all the teams under them. Speaking about the difference in their captaincy styles, Karthik picked the veteran MS Dhoni as an instinctive captain while also terming Kohli as an extremely aggressive personality on the field.
“MS is very instinctive as a skipper. He takes a lot of decisions on the field in the spur of the moment. Virat on the other hand, is very aggressive, likes to take on the opposition. He is immensely self-confident and has consistently kept raising the bar, as a batter and a leader,” said while speaking to Hindustan Times.
Rohit is very strategic
Dinesh Karthik was effusive in praise of Rohit Sharma as a captain and termed him as a strategist while at the helm. Rohit also speaks to his players constantly during the action in the middle according to the Kolkata Knight Riders captain.
“And then there is Rohit. He always does his homework, is very strategic, very hands-on. Keeps going and speaking with his bowlers, has a word with the batters too. He is very thorough in his approach as a captain,” Karthik further added. Karthik is now expected to be in action for the upcoming series against Australia and this time Virat Kohli will most likely be back after being rested.
