Tamil Nadu star Dinesh Karthik has posted a heartwarming video, showing how and his teammates reacted after Shahrukh Khan bagged his maiden IPL contract. Shahrukh, who is named after Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, was seen as one of the uncapped players to watch out for in the auction after impressing in domestic cricket.
Having gone unsold in the last auction, the Tamil Nadu star got his chance this auction by impressing in last month’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Known for playing the quickfire cameos of 30s and 40s in the lower-middle order, Shahrukh played a stunning knock of 19-ball unbeaten 40 in the quarterfinal against Himachal Pradesh before sealing Tamil Nadu’s second Syed Mushtaq Ali title with an entertaining cameo against Baroda in the final.
And as expected, the franchises bid fiercely for him in the auction. The 25-year old triggered a bidding war between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals after registering himself at the lowest base price of Rs 20 lakh. In the end, Punjab Kings secured the services of the highly-rated batsman for a whopping amount of Rs 5 crore.
