Director Shankar's daughter Aishwarya ties knot with TNPL cricketer Rohit Damodharan

Veteran South Indian movie director Shankar’s daughter Aishwarya tied knots with Tamil Nadu cricketer Rohit Damodharan on Sunday (June 27). The wedding ceremony took place in an intimate yet lavish affair in Chennai. Aishwarya is a doctor by profession while Rohit is the son of industrialist Damodharan, who’s also the owner of the Madurai Panthers cricket team in prominent T20 competition Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL).

For the unversed, Aishwarya is the eldest of Shankar’s three children. The newly married couple hitched up in a luxurious resort in Chennai with only their close friends and family members in attendance. The photos of the wedding ceremony went viral on social media and subsequently, Aishwarya and Rohit received congratulatory messages from different parts. Notably, all the guests and relatives were seen sporting face masks amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin was also snapped at the event.

Speaking of the couple, the bride was sporting a traditional orange silk saree with a heavily sequined blouse. Aishwarya’s look was completed by the heavy and ethnic jewellery. As far as Rohit is concerned, the cricketer donned the traditional kurta and styled it with a shawl with lace designs on the side.

Rohit Damodharan plays for Madurai Panthers in TNPL

For the unversed, Rohit Damodharan, 29, is a right-handed batsman, who can also chip in with his off-break bowling. So far, Damodharan has featured in 51 first-class games, 48 fifty-over matches, and 32 T20s, scoring 2,506 runs and scalping 38 wickets. Notably, he also represents Madurai Panthers in the Tamil Nadu Premier League. While Rohit has played with big names like Ravichandran Ashwin and Murali Vijay, he’s yet to get an IPL or Team India call-up.

On the other hand, Shankar is currently waiting for the release of his upcoming movie Indian 2, starring veteran actor Kamaal Hassan. The film is much-awaited as its prequel was a blockbuster. Moreover, the shoot of the movie was halted at times due to different reasons.

At first, a crane containing heavy flash fell on the sets, resulting in the death of three crew members. Then, Kamal Hassan signed Lokesh Kangraj’s movie Vikram and the shoot was halted again. Nevertheless, Indian 2 is now expected to come to theaters and OTT platforms soon.
