India and Bangladesh locked horns in the final of the ICC U19 World Cup on Sunday. After continuous rain for two days in the lead up to the crucial game, the weather cleared up just in time for the match to take place. Both the finalists gave their 100% in order to win the game and when the contest was tantalisingly poised, the rain came down heavily after 41 overs of Bangladesh’s innings.
With both the sides batting for a minimum of 20 overs, the match will not be going into the reserve day now. If the game doesn’t start again, Bangladesh U19 will win the U19 World Cup for the first time in their cricketing history. They are currently 18 runs ahead according to Duckworth Lewis Stern (DLS) method.
At any cost, at this stage, India will need the game to restart to have a slender chance to win the match and the World Cup for the fifth time.

What if the game restarts again?
Currently, Bangladesh are 163/7 after 41 overs and need 15 runs to win the game. With a lot of time gone in the match, there is also a chance of the game getting reduced. In that case, Bangladesh will get a target of 176 runs in 49 overs and with each over reduction, the target will come down by two runs.
However, if the game becomes 45 overs per side affair, then the target for the Junior Tigers will be 167. And if that happens, they are only four runs away from the victory going by the current situation and they will need to score those runs in four overs.
Interestingly, if they lose a wicket and the rain comes down again, then it will get tough for Bangladesh as India will put pressure on them and it will be the game of nerves for both teams.
