Don't be surprised if Morgan drops himself to make way for Russell in the final against CSK, reckons Michael Vaughan
KKR will be eyeing their third title in the IPL 2021 final.
KKR is all set to face three-time champions Chennai Super Kings in the final night of IPL 2021. Kolkata will be taking up the final step after gaining a lot of confidence as they are coming by dominating DC in a thriller. Talking in the context of KKR’s set up in the finals, former cricketer and analyst Michael Vaughan stated that a way has to be made for all-rounder Andre Russell in the final game.
It is known that Russell hasn’t been able to play the last five games of KKR due to a hamstring injury but has started bowling as well as batting in the practice session. It is expected that he might be in the mix for the final clash. Talking in the same line, Vaughan added that if Russell gets the entry ticket, he might replace Shakib.
However, the former English cricketer also added that it won’t be surprising if skipper Eoin Morgan drops himself to make way for Russell against CSK. It is quite clear that Morgan has put up an absolute dismal show in the IPL 2021 with the bat. In case, a place has to be created, Vaughan believes that Morgan might drop himself only.
I personally wouldn’t drop Morgan: Michael Vaughan
“They have to make a call on the pitch because when they played at Sharjah, they got used to the pitch, knew the conditions, and stuck with the team. Dubai might be a different proposition, it might be a different surface. If Andre Russell can bowl four overs, they may turn to change Shakib,” said Vaughan while speaking to Cricbuzz.
“You know, they may think that a left-arm spinner (won’t be required). Again, we’ll talk about Eoin Morgan (chuckles). I personally wouldn’t drop him, but do not be surprised if he drops himself) because I just know the character that he is. He will do what he feels is best for the team,” he added.
KKR will be eyeing their 3rd title on October 15 while MS Dhoni and his men would be keen on lifting their 4th IPL Trophy.
