The Indian team has already left for the UK for their two major assignments coming up one after the other. India will first lock horns with New Zealand in the marquee World Test Championship final and will then play five-match Test series with England. In the same line of events, Indian skipper Virat Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri addressed a virtual press conference before their departure.
Kohli spoke on various questions presented to him by journalists and the head coach kept adding his inputs. However, one thing is being constantly discussed among fans regarding the WTC final and that is, New Zealand have an edge over India. The matter is getting relevant as Blackcaps are already in England playing Tests against the home side and they will be well versed with the conditions by the time the summit clash begins.
On the other hand, India will have to complete mandatory quarantine upon their arrival in England and will have little life left to get the idea of things over there. When asked on the same issue, Kohli was adamant and confident enough to say that one shouldn’t board the flight if they think Kiwis have an edge in the finals.
“Don’t board the flight if you think New Zealand have an extra edge in the finals,” stated Kohli in the presser.

Though he addressed the media during the press conference, he sounded more like he is talking to his teammates. The confidence and winning attitude were clearly visible in Kohli’s statements while he made those remarks. After a while, he asserted, “We’re going to board that flight knowing that we’re at equal terms with New Zealand.”
“In the past, we’ve landed three days prior to the schedule and had a great tour. Conditions are as potent for New Zealand as they are for us. Conditions in Australia should’ve favoured them too. It’s about how you look at things. It’s all in the head,” he concluded.
