English pacer James Anderson made a comeback to the national side in the 2nd Test at Vizag. The English spearhead was happy with the way things turned up for him on his returned. Anderson bowled with precision to pick up 3 key wickets on the day 1. England had certainly missed his services during their tour to Bangladesh. Now that he returned, he has come back in style.
James Anderson started off well by removing Murali Vijay cheaply. He then got rid of centurion Cheteshwar Pujara to give his side the much-needed break. Towards the end of the day, he bagged Ajinkya Rahane’s wicket as well to restrict India to 317/4. “It was great to be back, I have spent the last two months working really hard. It’s been frustrating at times, but it’s been worth it,” quoted Anderson.
He further added that being out of the side did not make him feel good. He missed his game and wanted to be back in English colors soon. He cited how quickly he recovered to be back in the team. “I have missed playing and taking wickets. You can’t get that sort of feeling in any other walk of life – at least I struggle with it – so to get among it and get some wickets meant a lot. I always thought I would get out here for some part of the tour, but it was a surprise to a lot of people I got out here this early,” he quoted.
Anderson bowled well with Stuart Broad early in the innings. The pace duo were accurate in tandem. However, Broad was seen struggling with his foot towards the end. James told the Sky Sports 2 after the match that Broad is having a bit of a niggle. The seriousness of it is not known but he is working on it anyway. “He’s got a bit of a foot problem, he’s been in the wars, he’s got a graze as well on his arm so he’s nursing those at the moment in the dressing room. He did really well to get through the day. We don’t know how serious his foot is,” said James Anderson.

Talking about bowling to Virat Kohli, “I bowled a few balls at him when he (Kohli) came in. Someone like him, we feel like it’s important to get him out with the new ball. If you don’t get him out, he’ll punish you like he did today. We let ourselves down about half an hour before tea. On that pitch, we’re reasonably happy with what we achieved.”
Talking about the track, Jimmy made his assessment that the track will not be as good as the one in Rajkot. Some balls are bound to keep low and some will spin viciously, he feels. “I’m not sure the pitch will stay together as well as Rajkot. There are signs of it keeping low, and there will be more variable bounce. We have seen a few spun, so we are in tough position and we need to have a good day with the ball and an extremely good go with the bat,” he conceded.
