Mumbai Indians (MI) have roped in many new faces this season, and have a combination of experienced and inexperienced players on their team. But the mentors that the players have will give them no less of an experience worth living for. MI has a backroom staff of cricketing greats like Sachin Tendulkar, Mahela Jayawardene, Zaheer Khan to coach, guide, and train the players in the team at the IPL 2022.
They’ve played their first game in the season and faced a defeat against the Delhi Capitals. But the youngsters in the team are learning a lot from their seniors and mentors. The young players are aiming to get the best from the greats of the game.
In a video shared by MI on their official Twitter handle, it is seen how Dewald Brevis, Aryan Juyal, and Tilak Varma are in awe after having a chat with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. The former India and Mumbai Indians player has joined the camp and has been helping the players train.

“I’m just looking at…I just can’t believe that Sachin sir is here…like it’s insane! That was really like one of those dreams to just know a bit about how he thinks about the game and just all the little advices he gives me. It really helped me a lot and I really can’t wait to use it more in the game, in the nets, everywhere!
“So it was really amazing to just talk to him about my game. It was really like that dream that came true. Didn’t get any words out, as always but it was just lovely to meet him,” said Brevis after training under the legend.
“At first, I couldn’t believe that he is standing in front of me. So much so that I missed the first few things he said. I was completely mesmerized. The person who inspired all of us to start playing cricket. This was one of my dreams, and today, by God’s grace, it got fulfilled. He told me a few points which I felt were spot on.
“They were small points, but significant ones which can give my game a different dimension,” said Juyal on his experience of meeting Tendulkar. I still have so many things I want to ask. When we have our future sessions, I will ask him more questions. I guess it happens that when you see your idol, the questions that you have only come out after a while,” Juyal added.

Tilak Varma described his inner feelings when he met Sachin Tendulkar saying: “Firstly if he would have come to the practice without any prior interaction with us, it would have made us very nervous. But since the last two or three days, I’ve been playing table tennis with sir. We’ve also been having good conversations in the hotel.
“So, while playing table tennis and talking to him in the hotel, the nervousness reduced. If Sachin sir would have been here on the first day I practiced, of course, I would have been nervous. He’s the God of cricket. It’s compulsory, how much ever one may try a bit of nervousness is there.”
In the video, Sachin was seen interacting with the three young boys as they were awestruck by training in the nets under his guidance. He also indulged in a conversation with Jasprit Bumrah and Zaheer Khan towards the end.
