I dream of playing two more World Cups: Tamim Iqbal
“I think I should play at least 7-8 years more," he quoted.
Veteran Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal has expressed his desire to play for two more World Cups in the national colors. Tamim has been the most prolific batsman for team Bangladesh in the recent times. He was the highest run scorer for his team in the recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy. His consistent showing in the tournament saw the Bangladeshi tigers reach the semi-finals of the tournament.
Needless to say, he is one of the key members of the national side. After his successful stint in the Champions Trophy, Tamim stayed back in England to play for the Essex Eagles in the Natwest T20 Blast. However, he headed back to Bangladesh to join the national side for a conditioning camp after having played only one game for the Essex side.
Now, as per the recent quotes in bdcrictime.com, Tamim Iqbal has expressed his desire to play more and more in the international colors. The 28-year old batsman expressed that he wishes to continue for another 8 years. He is ready to keep himself fit.
“I think I should play at least 7-8 years more, but for that, I have to be completely fit, and keep performing for the team’s cause. Everything depends on my fitness and performance. But personally as a cricketer I dream of playing two more World Cups,” quoted Tamim Iqbal.
On Test cricket
Bangladesh is set to host Australia for a 2-match Test series next month. Tamim cited that the team is a much stronger unit now and is ready to give a stiff competition to the Aussies. The two teams had last met in a Test match in Bangladesh back in the year 2006.
“In Test cricket, we have come of age. We are a better team in this format than what we used to be in 2006 (the last time these two teams played a Test). Whether or not we can beat them depends on our planning. If we have a good plan and execute them on the field, we will have the chance of winning,” conceded Tamim.
