Cheteshwar Pujara’s run in the Test series against South Africa started off in disastrous fashion. The right-handed batter was dismissed for a first-ball duck against the Proteas.

To a delivery from Lungi Ngidi that pitched on a good length and came in, Pujara went for the forward defence. However, the ball took the inside edge of his bat, hit his thigh pad and ballooned in the air. Keegan Petersen, who was stationed at short leg pouched the catch, as Pujara departed for a golden duck.

Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul put on a superb 117-run stand for India

The opening duo of Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul put on a superb 117-run stand for the Indian side. Both batters displayed caution, but at the same time pounced on any loose delivery that was on offer.

While Mayank Agarwal was caught plumb in front of the stumps by Lungi Ngidi for 60, Pujara was dismissed without even troubling the scorers. Indian skipper Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are currently occupying the crease for the Indian side. While Rahul is unbeaten on 60*, Kohli has helped himself to 14*.

Meanwhile, the fans are not happy with Cheteshwar Pujara’s departure for a duck. While one fan wondered how many more chances Pujara will get henceforth, another fan felt that it is time for India to drop the right-hander.

Another fan labelled Pujara as a choker. Yet another fan even cheekily suggested that Lungi Ngidi had already planned how to get Pujara out when both of them turned out for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) side earlier this year in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League. Another fan feels that Shreyas Iyer should replace Pujara in the side.

Here is how Twitter reacted to Cheteshwar Pujara’s dismissal
