And, this ODI series win is West Indies’ first after they defeated Bangladesh by 3-0 in the Caribbean in 2014. On such a special occasion, the former West Indian cricketer praised the team’s performance and also took a dig on the previous administrators of West Indies Cricket Board.
The 2nd ODI against Afghanistan was won by Kieron Pollard and Co. by a margin of 47 runs. It was a big day for the West Indies team but Dwayne Bravo spilled out his frustration that ended various cricketers’ careers.
Dwayne Bravo opines on West Indies Cricket and hints on his comeback
Dwayne Bravo, the former West Indian all-rounder shared a message through a video and said that the series win is a big moment for the team. They had not won for five years but finally, the players have done it. He also pointed towards his move to come out of retirement. The former player also recited that West Indies cricket is not fully back on track but now the team and administration are in the hands of the right people.
“Congratulations to the team. It has been five years since we have not won an ODI series and the boys have now done this. I am a former West Indies cricketer but I may soon come out of international retirement. Let me tell you all that you can’t think that West Indies cricket is now back to where we want it to be. What we have here are the right people in the right places and we are pointing in the right direction,” the former all-rounder Dwayne Bravo said as quoted by Trinidad Guardian.
He also took a jibe at the previous people who were holding West Indies Cricket Board (WCB) office. Bravo felt that those people tried to mould the players according to their needs that ended the career of many players.
“West Indies cricket has suffered at the hands of vindictive people who were bent on keeping certain people away from the team, ending many careers,” he added.
Dave Cameron recently lost to Ricky Skerritt in the elections that were held for the Presidential post of WICB that brought his controversial tenure with the board to an end.
