Dwayne Bravo will be in consideration for CSK's match against DC, says Stephen Fleming
Dwayne Bravo has been training with the team over the last few days.
Dwayne Bravo has been one of the most important members of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) set-up over the last few years. While his credibility with the bat is an added-advantage, it is his bowling that makes him a vital cog in the line-up. The Caribbean cricketer provides the Super Kings four brilliant overs with the ball including a few at the death. Thus far in the IPL, he has picked up 147 wickets in 131 innings while maintaining an economy rate of 8.40.
However, right at the start of the season this year, CSK were hit by a big blow. Bravo, who carried a niggle from the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2020, was also not fit for the initial IPL games. Already missing out on Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina, it was quite a challenge for the management. However, the team did well and registered a win in the first game against Mumbai Indians.
Dwayne Bravo struggled with his fitness during the CPL 2020 too
His absence, though, was felt in the game against the Rajasthan Royals (RR). Lungi Ngidi, who was tasked to bowl at the death, struggled. He conceded 30 runs in the last over of the Rajasthan innings. The over potentially turned out to be the difference between both the teams in the end.
At this stage, the Yellow Army have gotten a few selection dilemmas. There are Josh Hazlewood and Imran Tahir in their ranks and one of them may replace Lungi Ngidi in the next game. However, CSK have got better news with Bravo being considered for selection for the upcoming encounter against the Delhi Capitals (DC).
The news has been confirmed by head coach Stephen Fleming himself. If Bravo is fit to play, he could be a straight swap for Lungi Ngidi. His presence will also bolster the batting line-up. Fleming also informed that the all-rounder has been training with the team for the last few days in the UAE.
As far as Ambati Rayudu is concerned, he will miss the upcoming game as well. He hurt his hamstring and didn’t feature in the game against the Royals as well. It is highly likely that he will return for the game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
