Dwayne Bravo’s diving catch image, named MCC-Wisden Photo of the Year 2014: An image of West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo taking a full-length diving catch in the air during ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014 has been named the Wisden’s MCC ‘Cricket Photograph of the Year 2014’.
The photo, captured by Getty Images photographer Matthew Lewis, shows Bravo taking the catch of James Faulkner of Australia off the bowling of Krishmar Santokie during last year’s ICC World Twenty20 tournament in Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur. West Indies won that match by six wickets with two balls remaining.
The official Twitter handle of Lord’s cricket ground tweeted:

Matthew Lewis was also the second runner-up in the same category making him the first photographer in the history of the competition to be both winner and a runner-up.
His second image was Nurul Hasan, of Bangladesh, looking despairingly at his broken stumps after being bowled by South Africa’s Dale Steyn during an ICC World Twenty20 warm-up match in Bangladesh, in March.

The judges also chose two runners-up. South African Morne de Klerk, another photographer from Getty Images, captured a striking shot of Australia and South Africa’s players leaving the field at the end of day three of the Second Test at Port Elizabeth, in February.
Any image with a cricket theme taken during 2014 was eligible and the competition attracted more than 400 entries from amateur and professional photographers.
The independent judging panel was chaired by Chris Smith, a former Sunday Times chief photographer, and also comprised of award-winning photographers Patrick Eagar, Hugh Routledge and Bob Thomas.
