Dwayne Smith hits brother Kemar for six sixes in an over
An off-spinner, Kemar has also spent a couple of seasons as a professional in English cricket.
Expecting any favour from the opposition player is never the right thing but when you are up against your elder brother, you might hope that he takes things easy against you. However, it was not the case when Kemar Smith was up against Dwayne Smith in Barbados on Monday. The brothers found themselves on opposite sides in a club game at Eden Lodge on the outskirts of Bridgetown.
The game was between Errol Holder Stars and C.R.B and it was the final of the A&A Auto Parts Errol Holder Ten10 Classic. Dwayne was opening the innings for Errol Holder Stars and incidentally, Kemar was opening the innings with the ball for C.R.B. Their mother was also sitting in the stands to watch her sons taking on each other. And what followed thereafter was total carnage as Dwayne took Kemar to the cleaners.
He hit his younger brother for six consecutive sixes in the over, according to ESPNcricinfo. The report stated that the pair’s on-looking mother, Lorraine Smith was understandably conflicted. Dwayne eventually fell for 46, caught at mid-wicket off the spin of Ashley Nurse. With so much experience on his side, Dwayne had the upper hand in the duel.
However, not many would have expected him to be so dominating against his brother who is a respected player in the Caribbean. An off-spinner, Kemar has also spent a couple of seasons as a professional in English cricket.
No revenge for Kemar
Later in the match, Kemar had an opportunity to exact revenge as he came into bat against Dwayne Smith’s bowling. The former West Indies player is not a frontline bowler and Kemar must have fancied his chances. However, the younger brother failed to take revenge as Dwayne bowled him for a first-ball duck.
Meanwhile, Dwayne needs little introduction. The 37-year old has played ample international cricket as well as franchise cricket. He represented West Indies in 10 Tests, 105 ODIs, and 33 T20Is, scoring more than 2,000 runs across formats in addition to picking up 75 wickets.
