The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is all set to host the player’s draft for the upcoming men’s domestic tournament, The Hundred on February 23, Tuesday. It is learned that as many as 252 overseas and 254 domestic players have registered for the domestic league while only 35 slots are available including seven slots for overseas players.

After the franchises revealed the list of their retained and released players earlier in the month of February, the players registered themselves at various base prices for the 2021 edition that is expected to take place in July 2021. All the eight franchises will have 14 players each including three overseas players. However, the players now have to incur a 20% cut in the salary bands due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking about the upcoming 100-ball tournament, the Director of Event Operations, Rob Hillman said as quoted by Cricbuzz, “We are delighted with the level of interest we’ve had from both overseas and domestic players. There is a huge appetite to play in The Hundred which is designed to open up cricket to more families and young people with fast world-class action on the pitch and blockbuster entertainment off it. The calibre of the players involved means that it’s going to be an exciting men’s draft – with a lot of competition for spaces amongst really top-drawer names.
