Ed Joyce moves up in the ODI Batsmen Rankings

37-year old Ireland batsman Ed Joyce has moved up 18 places on the ODI Batsmen Ranking to occupy the 24th spot. Joyce was in sublime form in the series against Afghanistan, smashing twin centuries. He smashed a mammoth unbeaten 160 in the fifth match, a match that saw Ireland level the series. He also smashed a 105 in the series and had an aggregate of 339 runs in the series.

The revision in the rankings has now seen Joyce become the highest ranked player among the non-Test playing nations. The luxury of the same was previously held by Afghanistan wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Shahzad who occupies the 34th spot in the rankings. Ireland opener Paul Stirling has slipped down five places to 41st.

32-year old Ireland all-rounder Kevin O’Brien has moved up one place to 43rd spot after scoring 145 runs in the series even as quite a few Afghanistan batsmen have made significant gains in the rankings, which are led by South Africa’s AB de Villiers.

As for Afghanistan, their premier all-rounder Mohammad Nabi moved up a place into 55th following his 120 runs in the series. Teenage leg-spinner Rashid Khan has gained one place to move to 43rd spot after scoring 145 runs in the series even as quite a few Afghanistan batsmen have made significant gains in the rankings, which are led by South Africa’s AB de Villiers.

Kevin O’Brien has moved up in the bowlers rankings as well courtesy of the 10 wickets he claimed in the series as he moved up 15 places to 68th. Tim Murtagh has moved from 59th to 52nd spot, Paul Stirling has gained three places and is now in 73rd place and Andy McBrine has lifted from 111th to 116th position.
