Eden Gardens will have a new vendor selling drinking water pouches in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) matches following a court directive, a top Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) official said on Wednesday.
A public interest litigation filed in the Calcutta High Court recently claimed the drinking water available in plastic pouches at the hallowed ground for spectators did not have the mandatory ISI mark on them.
Aniket Giri, who filed the petition, said he was not allowed to have a meeting with the CAB officials, but believes they would now have to abide by what the court says. The court directed the authorities to solve the problem by Wednesday morning.
The Kolkata Knight Riders management and top CAB officials had to hold a meeting on Tuesday to look into the issue.
“It is going to be a new vendor for the upcoming matches,” a top CAB official told IANS.
KKR take on Pune Supergiants in their next game at the Eden Gardens on Saturday.
CAB joint secretary Avishek Dalmiya said they had discussed the issue in the meeting and the association alongside KKR will take every step necessary to see that the problem is solved before the next game.
“Whatever is necessary will be done for the next game and that is what is being communicated to IMG, KKR and all others concerned.” said Avishek Dalmiya , CAB joint secretary.
“We have had a detailed hearing yesterday. We have gone through the statutory requirements. Whatever is necessary will be done for the next game and that is what is being communicated to IMG, KKR and all others concerned,” Dalmiya said.
