Over the years, Ravichandran Ashwin has emerged as the ace spinner in the country. Ashwin rose to fame with his T20 performances but has developed his game to be a successful bowler in the longest version of the game as well. He was without a doubt the go-to spinner of Indian skipper MS Dhoni. A talented young cricketer from India, Rohit Sharma, also known as ‘Hitman’ is popular for his effortless hitting and the two double hundreds in ODIs. Rohit has studied only up to class 12th because he got selected for International cricket. He completed his primary education at Our Lady of Vailankanni High School. He was then admitted to Swami Vivekananda School on scholarship which he got due to his excellent performances in school cricket and his coach Dinesh Lad was a coach at the school. Shikhar Dhawan, fondly known as Gabbar has been the opener for the Indian cricket team since 2013 and has formed a formidable pair with Rohit. Early in his life, Dhawan put cricket ahead of his career and dropped out after he finished 12th. He did his schooling from St. Marks Senior Secondary School, Paschim Vihar, Delhi.

Suresh Raina was a consistent middle order batsman for India for some time before announcing his retirement. The southpaw has numerous IPL records to his name as well- one among which is being the first batsman to score 3000 runs. He just had finished his 12th when he decided to pursue his career in cricket. Raina shifted to Lucknow to attend the specialist government Sports College. He then completed his B.com graduation with correspondence from Delhi University.

The maestro behind the stumps, M S Dhoni has mesmerized fans around the world with his batting, wicketkeeping and captaincy skills. Dhoni is widely regarded as one of the best wicket-keepers and finishers of all time. He first studied at the DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir where he was keenly interested in football and badminton. He then went on to St. Xavier’s College of Ranchi but dropped out as he was attracted to the game of cricket and he started making a name for himself here. Dhoni was keen to complete his graduation but due to his cricketing commitments couldn&#8217;t appear for final exams. Following team Indian&#8217;s victorious campaign in the World Cup 2011 Sr. Xavier&#8217;s decided to give him an honorary degree.

Yuvraj Singh is one of those sportsmen who has battled his way back not only into the team with performances but also in life. Jasprit Bumrah has made his name in international cricket with his accurate yorkers and economical death bowling. In his short international career, Bumrah has left the best of the best batsmen stumped. From an early age, he showed minimal interest in studies and played cricket with lot of intent. Hardik Pandya, the youngster from Baroda has been the talk of the town not just for his skills on the cricket field but also for his flamboyance. An allrounder he is not just good with the bat and ball but also an exceptional fielder. Pandya entered the national team for the tour of Australia and since then featured in all games the team played including the World T20 2016. He didn&#8217;t find real success academically as he failed in his ninth grade and decided to concentrate on cricket and has been rewarded for his dedication.

One of the most successful captains in Indian cricket Ganguly has finished his graduation in St. Xavier’s College of Kolkata and dedicated the rest of his years to the game of cricket.

Javagal Srinath was one among the rare breed of Indian fast bowler known for their pace. He was one of the key members of the India team that made it to the finals of the 2003 World Cup. Srinath is the only Indian fast bowler to have taken more than 300 wickets in ODIs. He was persistent with education while concentrating on cricket and graduated with a bachelor’s in Engineering in Instrumentation Technology degree from Shri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, Mysore.

The best spinner India has produced, Anil Kumble was the greatest asset in the bowling department for India for more than a decade. Kumble completed his pre-university college education from National College Basavanagudi. The former Indian Test skipper completed his graduation in B.E in Mechanical Engineering from R.V College of Engineering.

The dashing opener from Delhi was one batsman all bowlers dreaded to bowl to. One of the best openers Indian cricket has ever had, Virender Sehwag was known for his fierce, singular, and aggressive approach while batting. Sehwag did his schooling from Arora Vidya School, Delhi and got his graduation degree from the Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi.

VVS Laxman made his debut for India in 1996 against South Africa. He was one of the best Test batsmen for India and on most occasions stood there when the team was in need for a resistant knock. VVS towards the later half of his career was regarded as a second inning specialist as he played some remarkable knocks in the fourth innings of Tests. He completed his schooling from Little Flower High School, Hyderabad. After completion of 10+2 Laxman started pursuing a medical degree course but he ultimately chose cricket instead of a career in medicine.
