'Ek bhavishyavani poori ho gayi' - Virender Sehwag had predicted Sourav Ganguly's future as BCCI President back in 2007

Virender Sehwag, the former Indian cricketer turned commentator is one of the most outspoken figures in Indian cricket. He recently came out with a revelation, about a prophecy that he did back in 2007 about Sourav Ganguly’s future. It came true after the former cricketer became BCCI President. And now, expects his second prediction to come true in the near future.

Ganguly officially took the charge of BCCI chief on 23rd October. There were no elections held and picking the former left-hand batter was a unanimous decision taken. On his recent achievement, cricketing fraternity applauded him with loads of wishes.

Virender Sehwag’s prediction came true about Sourav Ganguly

Sehwag, who once played under Sourav’s captaincy recalled an incident during a Test in Cape Town back in 2007. In that match, he along with Wasim Jaffer got dismissed early. After them, Sachin Tendulkar had to bat at number 4. Out of the blue, Ganguly was asked to go out and bat. After, the conclusion of former skipper’s inning, everyone in the team accepted the fact that if anyone has the ability to become BCCI President in the future, then it is Sourav Ganguly.

“It was a Test in Cape Town where me and Wasim Jaffer were out early. Tendulkar was to bat No.4 but couldn’t take the field. Out of the blue, Ganguly was asked to go out and bat. This was a comeback series and there was pressure. But the way he batted, the way he handled pressure and tension, only he could do.” Sehwag said as quoted by NDTV Sports.

“That day we all agreed in the dressing room that if anyone among us can become BCCI president, it’s Dada. I said he can even be the Bengal Chief Minister. Ek bhavishyavani poori ho gayi, aur ek baaki hai (One of my predictions has come true, let’s wait and see about the other one),” the 41-year-old added.

Meanwhile, Ganguly will remain Indian cricket chief for the next nine months, after the 33-month reign of the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA). On 25th October, he was seen attending the meeting of the selection committee ahead of the home series against Bangladesh.
