Aussie batter Ellyse Perry’s stellar form in this year’s Women’s World Cup saw her rise up to the third spot in the latest ICC rankings for ODI batswomen. Perry triggered her upgrade by hammering 5 consecutive half centuries in the tournament. She is yet to be dismissed under the half century mark in the ongoing Women’s World Cup 2017.

The 26-year-old also grabbed the top spot in the all-rounder rankings as she overtook Stafanie Taylor of the West Indies. Taylor had a miserable outing this time as the West Indies team failed to make it to the semi finals. Out of the top 12 batswomen in the ODI rankings, four of them are Australians. Meg Lanning stood rock solid on her top spot while vice captain Alex Blackwell dropped a place to 8th. Opener Nicole Bolton now occupies the 11th spot which is her career best to date.

Indian skipper Mithali Raj is inching closer to the top spot which is occupied by Meg Lanning. Both the batsmen are absolutely crucial for their team and might turn out be the deciding factors for their respective sides when the two teams meet in the semi-final on Thursday.

Mithali has been leading by example throughout the tournament with four scores of 50 or more and also became the leading run-scorer in women’s ODIs on her way to breaking the unprecedented 6,000-run barrier. She also scored a gutsy hundred against the Kiwis which saw her team make it through to the semis.

Bowler rankings:

Among the bowlers, Australian left-arm finger spinner Jess Jonassen climbed three spots to second place behind South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp. South African captain Dane van Niekerk made the biggest jump which was the most notable change in the bowler rankings. The South African’s leg spin has captured 15 wickets at the barely believable average of 8.33 and resulted in an increase of 14 places to fifth in the player rankings.
