The first Test of the five-match series between England and India is interestingly poised. The hosts have batted well so far on the fourth day to wipe off the deficit and build the lead. The whole game rather has been very close right through and tempers have time and again flared. While it was the shoulder barging between Ollie Robinson and KL Rahul that started it all, Mohammed Siraj and James Anderson also exchanged words on the third day.
Siraj was once again in the action and some fiery mood on the fourth day. India were visibly frustrated with partnership building between Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root and were in desperate need of a breakthrough with the lead growing constantly.
The duo had added 42 runs in quick time with Bairstow threatening to take the game away from the visitors soon. However, in the 58th over, Mohammed Siraj delivered a short and the England batsman could resist a pull. Rather it was an authoritative shot from Bairstow but little did he know that it would go straight into Ravindra Jadeja’s hands. He drops a catch very rarely and held onto this one in a bit of a surprise as nobody expected that a wicket would fall.
Delighted Siraj makes an interesting gesture
It was an unexpected but a welcome wicket for India as runs were coming far too quickly. Even Jonny Bairstow was surprised and had to even deal with a send-off from Mohammed Siraj. The bowler was delighted and gestured the batsman to stay quiet and walk back to the dressing room. Siraj had his finger on his lips and Bairstow kept looking at back continuing to be stunned after getting out.

The match is going the interesting way now with England staging a comeback in the second innings with a better batting effort. Their skipper Joe Root has led the charge and they will be hoping to set a challenging target for India. The visitors, on the other hand, will be keen to wrap things soon and then chase down the target to take a lead in the series. Any score above 200 could get tricky for India and conditions can play a role too on the final day.
