ENG vs IND: Ravindra Jadeja undergoes scans after Headingley Test, knee injury suspected

As if Team India’s humiliating loss at the third Test wasn’t enough, they have suffered another massive blow. Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been taken to hospital due to a reported knee injury. On Day 2 of the contest, the 32-year-old sustained the injury while fielding. Team India has already lost opener Shubman Gill, pacer Avesh Khan and Washington Sundar to injuries on the tour.

Hence, the unavailability of Jadeja in the remaining two Tests would put India in a spot of bother. While any official statement regarding the all-rounder’s injury is yet to come, Jadeja confirmed his visit to the hospital by posting a picture on his Instagram story. In the snap, he was seen sporting a patient’s gear and the caption clearly showcases Jadeja doesn’t want to miss matches.

‘Not a good place to be at,’ he wrote in the post. The snap went viral in no time as Indian fans showcased their concern. While several queried about the seriousness of the injury, many sent speedy-recovery wishes to the star player. After all, Jadeja is a vital cog of the Test team.

Alongside scoring runs lower down the order, the left-arm spinner can scalp handy wickets. Not to forget, the southpaw is a live wire on the field. Hence, the Indian team management would want him to recover ahead of the fourth game which gets underway on September 2 at the Kennington Oval in London. As per Zee News, the Indian team is scheduled to leave for London on August 30 and if the scan reports do not reveal anything major, Jadeja will accompany the team.

Meanwhile, England comprehensively won the third Test by an innings and 76 runs at the Headingly in Leeds. It was indeed a remarkable performance from the Three Lions as Team India was outplayed in all three departments. After bundling the visitors out for 78 in the first innings, the home team piled up a mountain of 432 runs, earning a lead of 354 runs.

While India’s defeat seemed a mere formality, their top order fought back in the second innings. Veterans Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Virat Kohli added some spice in the contest with fighting half-centuries. However, England made brilliant use of the second new ball and took the last eight wickets inside 63 runs on Day 4. Pacer Ollie Robinson received the Player-of-the-Match award for scalping seven wickets in the game.
