ENG vs IND: Shardul Thakur, Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant blow champagne over skipper Rohit Sharma post series win

The Men in Blue had a blast on Sunday (July 17) evening at Old Trafford, Manchester, when they won the third and final ODI of the series in style defeating England by five wickets. While every player rejoiced after the series win, Rishabh Pant, Shardul Thakur, and Shikhar Dhawan enjoyed a little extra as they blew out champagne on their skipper Rohit Sharma when he lifted the trophy.

The team members had to gather for the group photo after Sharma’s post-match interview, but Thakur and Dhawan popped open a bottle of champagne and blew it on their skipper. Dhawan stood behind Sharma and Thakur was on his right as the duo opened the bottle in sync and the skipper couldn’t manage to rescue himself from the situation.

Rishabh Pant joined them in the madness while Rohit Sharma was trying to walk out of the podium and blew the champagne all over the skipper’s face and body. Sharma came back to the centre stage and requested everyone to gather for the group photo, but even then, Pant kept his tantrums going and kept repeating the act on every other player.

Going along with the team’s tradition, Arshdeep Singh, who received his maiden ODI call-up but did not get his cap, held the trophy for the picture. While it looked like the celebrations were done, former India skipper Virat Kohli grabbed a bottle of champagne, silently moved backwards without anyone knowing, and blew it out on Shikhar Dhawan and Arshdeep Singh as the whole group tried to escape. Kohli was even seen chasing Dhawan when he got off the stage.

Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya led India to a victory

Speaking of how the match panned out, England had posted a target of 260 runs for the visitors. Reece Topley, just like the second ODI, was at his best when he dismissed the Indian top order. India survived a major boost when Hardik Pandya and Pant anchored the innings and shared a composed century stand for the fifth wicket. While Pandya registered a half-century, after grabbing four wickets in the first innings, Pant hit a match-winning century and stood unbeaten at 125*(113) as India won the series by 2-1.
