Former India skipper Virat Kohli was recently seen giving a pep talk to the Indian team ahead of their warm-up game against Leicestershire. India will face off with the English County team for a four-day match starting on June 24 at Grace Road, Leicester, ahead of their one-off Test match against England in Edgbaston, Birmingham.

Apart from the one-off Test, India is set to face England in three T20Is and ODIs each. Rohit Sharma’s men will hope to kick-start their tour with a win at Grace Road and pick up from where they left off going into the five-match Test series, which they lead 2-1.

The clip was shared on Twitter with the caption, “Game mode = 𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅 @imVkohli gives a 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 team talk ahead of a busy day of preparations before @BCCI’s Tour Match vs @leicsccc.”

‘We are seeing less and less of all-format players’ – Ashish Nehra on Kohli, Rohit

Former India fast bowler Ashish Nehra recently made an observation about all-format players players such as Kohli and Rohit. He said that there would be more selective cricket played by them, going forward. Notably, Kohli and Rohit, after the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL), took some time off as they were not part of the five-match home T20I series played against South Africa.

“We are already seeing less and less of these all-format players,” said Nehra in a discussion with Cricbuzz. “Even in India, how many players are there right now who play all three formats? And you named two: Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma. Both are resting (for South Africa T20Is). And because of that so many players are getting an opportunity. But you will see this thing in the coming times.”

Rohit and Kohli are currently having a torrid time with the bat. The former scored only 268 runs in this year’s IPL while the latter only 341 runs at an average of 19.14 and 22.73 respectively. Their contribution at the top against an in-form England will be crucial.
