After registering a convincing 41-run win in the first game, England would be hoping to seal the series by getting the better of South Africa in the all-important second T20I that will be played at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff on Thursday, July 28. Since the series opener was played just a day earlier, both teams would be looking to recover just in time from fatigue and traveling and showcase good performances on the field.
England were impressive with both the bat and ball in the first T20I as they gave the South Africans no chance of making a comeback once the ball was in their court. Jonny Bairstow and Dawid Malan’s 71-run stand for the third wicket along with the 106-run fourth wicket stand off 37 balls between Bairstow and Moeen Ali helped the hosts post a mammoth 234/6 on the board and the bowlers then ensured to get the job done. More importantly, a win was possible due to Moeen Ali’s all-round brilliance.
The Proteas only have themselves to blame for being 0-1 down in the series as they dropped Jonny Bairstow thrice with two of them being sitters as he top-scored with a 53-ball 90.

ENG vs SA Pitch Report
The wicket at Sophia Gardens is likely to favour the batters and the teams batting second have gone on to win six out of eight matches so far. Nonetheless, both teams would be eager to stick to their strengths rather than rely on the conditions. Therefore, the captain winning the toss would look to bat first.

South Africa:
ENG vs SA, 2nd T20I Probable Top Performers
Probable best batter of the match
Jonny Bairstow:
Jonny Bairstow has had an outstanding 2022 with the bat and he maintained his consistency by playing a match-winning knock in the series-opener scoring a quickfire 90 runs off 53 deliveries. While Bairstow did get three chances, he made the most of it and made the Proteas pay for it. The Englishman fell short of a well-deserved ton and he would be hoping to showcase a better performance in the second game.
Probable best bowler of the match
Richard Gleeson:
Richard Gleeson showed consistency with the ball in hand yet again and proved to be a match-winner for England in the first T20I with an excellent bowling performance that saw him account for the likes of a well-set Tristan Stubbs, Andile Phehlukwayo, and Kagiso Rabada to finish with figures of 3/51 from his four overs.
