England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the ODI squads for the upcoming series against Scotland and Australia. Jos Buttler has been rested for the one-off ODI at Edinburgh against the Scottish and Sam Billings is tipped to take the wicketkeeping gloves for the game. There is not a lot of difference in both the squads as only Buttler and Tom Curran are added for the series against Australia which begins on June 13.
There are no surprises in the either of the teams as England aim to build a team and figure out the best-suited combination ahead of the World Cup next year. Eoin Morgan who recently injured his finger and was ruled out of the charity game against the Windies will lead the side.
He is expected to get fit in time for the ODI against Scotland which will be played on June 7. Buttler is rested considering the amount of cricket he has played this year. He was also involved in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) where he plied his trade for the Rajasthan Royals (RR).
Plunkett back in the reckoning
Liam Plunkett has made a comeback to the side after he was forced to miss seven ODIs last winter due to the hamstring injury he picked up during the third ODI against Australia in Sydney. Mark Wood, David Willey and Ben Stokes are the other fast bowlers in the squad.
The white ball specialists Alex Hales and Adil Rashid have also been included in the team as is Moeen Ali who is back in favour for limited-overs format after being dropped from the Test team for the series against Pakistan.
The five-match affair against Australia will commence at the Kennington Oval in London. The two teams are also scheduled to play a one-off T20 International in Birmingham on the 27th of June after the end of the ODI series.
